Non-negotiables
Our non-negotiables are designed with age-appropriate expectations in mind. We have designed our non-negotables to:
1.Identify the essential skills that children need to become confident with, i.e. be able to demonstrate in independent tasks and be able to apply in other contexts.
2.Unblock learning, i.e. to keep teachers focused on the essential skills rather than coverage at the expense of progress.
3.Unlock learning and progress.
Our non-negotiables are not designed to imply that the rest of the curriculum is an irrelevance. They are used to help teachers with their planning and to ensure that the agreed 'basics' for each year group are taught and applied with rigour.
Our non-negotiables booklets
Our booklets provide information for parents and carers on the end-of-year expectations for children in our school. The staff have identified these expectations as being the minimum requirements our pupils must meet in order to ensure continued progress throughout the following year.
All the objectives will be worked on throughout the year and will be the focus of direct teaching. Any extra support parents/carers can provide in helping their children to achieve these is greatly valued.
